SOCAN Purchases Audiam
SOCAN has purchased 100 per cent of the New York-based tech company Audiam , which allows the Canadian PRO to expand into the business of licensing digital services and royalty payment for songwriters , composers , and music publishers . Audiam will remain a separate organization under its current name for the foreseeable future and Jeff Price will remain as Audiam ’ s CEO and work closely with SOCAN CEO Eric Baptiste and his team . Audiam brings to SOCAN one of the most complete databases of sound recordings and underlying song / composition metadata , as well as audit and auto-match technology to proactively find works that are not licensed and royalties that have not been paid .

Stickman Wraps Fifth Year Featuring Premier Instructors & New Location
The 2016 edition of Saskatchewan ’ s Stickman Drum Experience camp completed season five with a lineup of highly-regarded drum instructors , including Carter Mc- Lean , Jason Sutter , Mark Kelso , Emmanuelle Caplette , Brent Fitz , Jayson Brinkworth , and Chris Dimas . Thirty campers were provided with up-close-and-personal instruction throughout the four-day camp in early July . Drummer and producer Kevin Churko ( Ozzy Osbourne , Ringo Starr ) shared his life experiences while drummaker Ronn Dunnett led a group of campers through the hands-on process of designing and building their own snare drums .
The camp faced some adversity this year when its former event site went into foreclosure , taking with it a substantial cash deposit . Camp producers George Dimas and Jayson Brinkworth approached St . Michael ’ s Retreat and Convention Centre located in the Qu ’ Appelle Valley and made arrangements to relocate there .
The 2017 camp will take place from June 28-July 2 .
