iZotope Ozone 9 Mastering Software
iZotope has released Ozone 9, the latest version of its flagship mastering software. It
features improved processing for low end, new real-time instrument separation, and faster
workflows powered by machine learning.
With the expanded Master Assistant, users can better achieve their desired vibe in
the music, from warm analog character to transparent loudness for streaming. Ozone 9’s
Tonal Balance Control can now talk to more iZotope plug-ins in the session and plug-in
performance is improved for faster work, smoother metering, and resizable windows.
With Master Rebalance, instrument levels can be corrected or changed without needing
the original tracks. For example, users can add presence to vocals without affecting the
midrange, or eliminate muddy low end by slightly lowering the bass guitar. The Low End
Focus brings clarity to a users’ low end and gives a well-defined foundation for each track. With this new bass shaping tool, users can also tame
unruly or clashing kick drums and boomy bass guitars without changing overall impact and go in-depth with surgical controls that shape tone
and timbre with minimal artifacts.

Klark-Teknik Mic
Booster CT 1
Klark-Teknik has released the Mic Booster
CT 1, a compact dynamic microphone
booster with a quality preamp.
The Mic Booster CT 1 is designed to
be used when more headroom is needed
for any microphone in a podcast setup,
recording studio, or live rig and offers a
crisper and cleaner signal in a compact and
simple-to-use package. The CT 1 can work
with almost any dynamic or passive rib-
bon microphone. Its preamp adds +25dB
of gain to mic pres, which increases the
headroom and allows the user to dial in
the ideal mic level at a lower gain setting at
the mixer. The simplicity and size of the CT
1 means it can easily connect to the end
of any microphone and amplify the signal
directly out of the mic. This minimizes the
risk of any potential noise being picked
up by cable runs in between the mic and
preamp. It also runs on phantom power
and needs no external power source.
