SOCAN Creates $2-Million Enhanced Emergency Program for Members SOCAN is allocating up to $2 million for emergency royalty advances. Priority will be given to SOCAN members who are faced with a loss in live performance royalties or screen composers whose productions have been suspended. The interest-free advances will be considered based on each member’s most recent earnings history, urgency, and need. Each individual application will be considered on its own. SOCAN already provides royalty advances to thousands of creator and publisher members every year. Domestic music publisher members are able to access support as well. The program will be followed by additional support initiatives that will be announced as needs are better identified. Members who wish to apply can contact SOCAN’s Membership team at 866-307-6226 or [email protected]. For more information, go to www.socan.com. Live Nation Creates Relief Fund for Tour Crews Live Nation, the industry’s largest concert promoter, has set up a relief fund to support touring and venue crews through the pandemic. Live Nation has committed $10 million to Crew Nation – contributing an initial $5 million to the fund, then matching the next $5 million given by artists, fans, and employees. “The concerts we all enjoy wouldn’t be possible without the countless crew members working behind the scenes,” the company says. “As COVID-19 puts concerts on pause, we want to extend a helping hand to the touring and venue crews who depend on shows to make a living. Crew Nation was created to do just that.” It’s still accepting donations and selling Crew Nation merchandise. For more information or to apply, go to www.livenationentertainment.com/relief-fund.
