HOT GEAR Novation Summit Synth Novation has introduced the Summit flagship synth, a two-part, 16-voice, 61-key polyphonic synthesizer. The Summit’s digital New Oxford Oscillators offer sub- tractive, FM, and wavetable synthesis and feed into genuine analog dual filters, distortion, and VCAs. The multitimbral engine enables merging and combining of two complete and independent patches, while up to 16 simultaneous voices deliver enhanced harmonic depth. There are extensive front panel controls, external audio input, and the five- octave keyboard found on Novation’s SL MkIII MIDI controller. The synth’s sound processing is hosted on the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) chip, which can generate analog waveforms as well as FM and wavetable synthesis. IK Multimedia UNO Drum IK Multimedia has introduced the UNO Drum ultra-portable drum machine. This analog/PCM drum machine is designed to offer a wide sonic palette combining fat, punchy analog sounds with digital flexibility and convenience. A selection of programming and live performance features and controls makes it easier for musicians, producers, and DJs to add drum grooves to their music. Up to 12 elements can be used in total between analog and digital sounds, with 11-voice polyphony avail- able. Together, these analog and PCM sounds suit a wide cross-section and a variety of live scenarios. There are 100 pre-programmed and fully-editable drum kit presets and patterns. All sounds made on the UNO Drum can be stored and recalled on the fly. Top panel editing controls allow for adjustment of key parameters of each sound. It also offers three master audio effects: drive, stutter, and compressor. For more information, contact Hal Leonard: 414-774- 3630, FAX 414-774-3259, [email protected], www.halleonard.com. Moog Matriarch Semi-Modular Analog Synth Moog has introduced the Matriarch semi-modular analog synth, which is based on the vintage circuitry of classic Moog synthesizer modules. The Matriarch is a patchable four-note paraphonic ana- log synthesizer with a built-in sequencer, arpeggiator, stereo ladder filters, and stereo analog delay. Capable of creating rich evolving chord patterns immediately with “no patching required,” the Matriarch invites access to an abundance of textures, new sounds, and “happy accidents” through its 90 modular patch points. The Matriarch’s patchable architecture and classic Moog circuits reward open exploration with wide sonic possibilities and improved analog sound. The four analog VCOs can be split into four notes of paraphony that can be sequenced, shifted, and stored with the instrument’s 256-step sequencer, or stacked in unison to create a four-oscillator mono synth.
