HOT GEAR Propellerhead PolyStep Sequencer Plug-In Propellerhead Software has released the PolyStep Sequencer, an evolved polyphonic step sequencer plug-in for a Reason Rack. The PolyStep Sequencer represents a new way of making music for Reason users as it can be a standard polyphonic pattern sequencer, a jam-friendly phrase sequencer, or a songwriter’s harmonic exploration tool. With this rack extension, users can create and jam se- quences in new ways by drawing in or recording notes and then applying PolyStep Sequencer’s tricks. Artists can explore chord progressions and structures by grabbing single notes and dragging them horizontally or vertically to create boxes, which transform into chords, repeats, arpeggios, or strumming. PolyStep Sequencer can be used to record in real time with step input or graphical input. Users can easily transpose their sequences in real time from MIDI input, always in scale. It can also be used for jamming and improvising dynamic arrange- ments with eight patterns, each with four variations, that can be switched manually, randomly, or in sequence. Reloop Spin Portable Turntable System Reloop has released the Spin portable turntable system, which is optimized for scratching and cutting. The straight tone arm offers enhanced stability and can be fixed into position with a transportation lock. The pre-installed cartridge has enhanced tracking features and holds the groove tightly. The 45-mm crossfader has a unique form factor, features two-rail technology for sturdiness, and can be installed on either side of the platter. On the top panel there is a start/stop button as well as a pitch control with a range of +/-20 per cent. On-Stage DB200 Mini DI Box On-Stage, a division of The Music People, has released the DB200 mini DI box. The compact direct box transfers any high- impedance 1/4-in. source into a low-impedance (XLR) signal ready to be sent to a mixing board or recording console. The DB200 is ideal for guitars, keyboards, and bass, and thanks to its compact size, fits well on pedalboards and includes a hook and loop fastener. It also features a ± 20dB pad, a cabinet simulator, and ground lift controls to eliminate hum caused by ground loops.
