DMC Canada Announces 2016 Competitions
DMC Canada is preparing to host its 2016 Canadian DMC Battleground presented by Pioneer DJ . Since the reboot of the Canadian DMC branch in 2011 , it has provided a platform for Canadian DJs to display their turntable talents and represent Canada at the DMC World DJ Competition . There will be regional DMC DJ competitions in Toronto ( July 9 th ), Vancouver ( July 15 th ), and Ottawa ( Aug . 26 th ). New for 2016 , DMC Canada is launching the first ever Online DMC Regional , which will allow DJs outside of the aforementioned markets to participate and advance to the national finals on Sept . 3 rd in Toronto .
Earlier this year , Montreal ’ s DJ Brace won the 2016 DMC World Online Championship . It was Canada ’ s second victory in as many years after the 2015 victory of Waterloo , ON ’ s DJ Vekked . DJ Brace is guaranteed a chance to represent Canada at the world level in late September .

Folk Music Canada Launching FolkNorth Showcase & Industry Event
Folk Music Canada will be launching a new national showcase and industry event called FolkNorth , to be held in Toronto from Nov . 30 to Dec . 3 , 2016 . The gathering is meant to spotlight export showcases , foster Canadian folk industry growth , and provide professional development to current and future generations of folk presenters and leaders .
To complement the showcasing activities , FolkNorth will invite 40 buyer delegates to attend the event and organize over 500 B2B meetings to foster market development .

Guitar Workshop Plus Announces 2016 Guest Artists & Programming
Guitar Workshop Plus has announced its 2016 program with an lineup of highly respected guest artists . The two Toronto-area sessions will be held Aug . 7-12 and Aug . 14-19 while the Vancouver-area session will be Aug . 14-19 .
The 2016 guest artists include : rockers Jennifer Batten ( Jeff Beck , Michael Jackson ) and Gary Hoey , guitar great Robben Ford ( Miles Davis , Yellowjackets ), bass icon Victor Wooten ( Flecktones , Chick Corea , solo ), country legend Albert Lee , metal king Devin Townsend , and more .
Special Seminars including Blues Bash , The Advancing Guitarist , Acoustic Spirit ,

… The Canadian Country Music Association ( CCMA ) has announced that Murray McLauchlan and Paul Mascioli will be the 2016 inductees into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame . McLauchlan , who emerged from Toronto ’ s Yorkville scene of the 1960s , has 18 albums to his credit in the genres of country , folk , pop , and adult contemporary .
