Celebrating its 20th year in operation in 2016 , the Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge is located 12 nautical miles from Seward on Fox Island in the protected waters of Resurrection Bay . Operating in the summer months of June , July and August , the lodge is easily accessible by a short boat ride through calm waters . In 2013 , Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge debuted a new main lodge , complete with an expanded kitchen and formal culinary program , featuring the wild Alaska salmon belly ( an under-utilized piece of the salmon ) and locally harvested beach greens . The new 3,300-square foot building is re-positioned on the apex of the beach , with two-story windows overlooking Resurrection Bay .
The lodge ’ s eight waterfront cabins were renovated in 2012 with custom beds and high-quality furniture and fixtures . Guests can have their morning coffee or tea delivered directly to their rooms , and be greeted after a day of kayaking with their favourite beverage at their cabin door .
