The Whistler Mountain Bike Park boasts more terrain than any other bike park in North America with 1,493 vertical metres of lift-serviced descending trails , ranging in difficulty from green runs for beginners to blue and black diamond runs for intermediate and advanced riders . Biking terrain ranges from gentle banked cruisers through the coastal forest to tight and twisty single track – perfect for intermediate and all-mountain riders . The Britannia Mine operated from 1904 to 1974 and was once the largest copper mine in the British Empire . It is told that over 60,000 people from 50 countries lived and worked in this isolated mining community over the course of its 70 year life . In 2010 , a multi-million dollar make-over transformed this historic mine into a multiaward winning Museum and National Historic Site . This bustling attraction opens up a little-seen world that fascinates all ages . Visitors board a mine train and experience a day in the life of a hard rock miner with a guided underground tour . Site includes " Groundbreaking " film , touchscreen exhibits , displays of rare minerals , entrance into the massive Mill , gift shop and a unique opportunity to pan for gold . The Squamish Lil ’ wat Cultural Centre in Whistler showcases the art and heritage of the Squamish and Lil ’ wat Aboriginal people .
