Camping In Ontario Update Newsletter June 2019 June 2014

CAMPING IN ONTARIO’S NEWSLETTER UPDATE As I sit to write this, the weather is starting to cooperate with campers and campgrounds. It was definitely a tough start to the season but campers were out fairly early, braving cool temperatures. If the Farmer’s Almanac is to be trusted, it will be a hot summer with lower than average rainfall; cooling off in the water will be in demand. Now if only we could have predicted the outcome of the election. I hope you were able to follow along with key platforms and cast your vote for the party you felt best represents small business, tourism and our quality of living. One thing is certain – we will be dealing with change, be it weather or new government priorities. In keeping with change, the board approved its last annual workplan and budget under the current strategic plan. We will continue to work on objectives, such as increasing membership, improving membership retention, communication with all stakeholders and marketing to the general public. Work will also continue on educating governments and authorities on our industry, increasing revenue for the association, and continuing to improve our governance of the organization. A new objective for this year is to start to grow our industry. Some initial activities to be undertaken are identifying obstacles to park expansions, economic impact study (in partnership with CCRVC) and engaging youth in our industry through JUNE 2014 convention and possible work placements. We are very excited about this new objective as it clearly demonstrates that we are looking to the future. Somewhere out in my campground, someone is wondering where I am and so I bid you a great camping season! I look forward to seeing many new faces at 2014 Convention to CELEBRATE our 45th anniversary. Mini-convention provides an affordable way to participate so please consider that option if you are uncertain. We are going to party and celebrate success and we want to celebrate with you - so come out and join us at Blue Mountain from November 16–19, 2014.
