There's Splishin’ and a Splashin’ AT Camp GANIM: CLAMS (Preschool Level 1) Beginner MINNOWS Camp Aquatics Skillbuilding, Fun and Fitness Swimming is a lifelong skill that can open the door to many adventures. At the Weinstein JCC and Camp Hilbert pools, safety always comes first for campers and swimmers, along with a friendly and nurturing environment. Our expanded instructional swim program ensures all children gain swim- ming competence to last a lifetime. Our staff evaluates each swimmer and places him or her with campers of their same swim level. As the summer progresses, the campers attain new skills and move up to the next level to gain confidence in all areas of swimming. For many Ganim swimmers it is their first time in the water. Our goal is to make every child's experience a positive one! At Camp Ganim each swimmer will earn a certificate at the end of each session highlighting their accomplishments and swim level. The 30-minute instructional swim at Camp Ganim is led by Aquatics Director and Ganim Swim Coordinator Myles Phelps, who is an American Red Cross Water Safety & Lifeguard Instructor and Certified Pool Operator . At the beginning of each week, new campers will be evaluated and placed with their peers of the same swimming ability. Our swim lessons follow the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim levels, the same that are taught at the Weinstein JCC year-round swim program. There are six differ- ent levels, ranging from introduction to water skills, fundamentals, stroke development and improvement to swimming and skill proficiency. (See page 6 for new information on swimming for our older campers.) 12 All pool activities are supervised by a Pool Deck Super- visor as well as American Red Cross Lifeguards. All Weinstein JCC staff are required to be CPR/First Aid/AED certified and receive ongoing training. In addition to our summer camp instructional swim times, we offer year- round private and group lessons.
