Field Trips
In addition to great outdoor field trips around the metropolitan Chicago area , our camps incorporate a variety of enriching activities at our Park District facilities :
Hidden Creek AquaPark
Campers will attend open swim at Hidden Creek AquaPark throughout the summer .
• Campers 2nd grade and under must remain in the zero-depth area regardless of skill level .
• Campers in grades K-2 receive swim lessons designed to instill safety techniques . Certified instructors teach our swim lessons .
Supplement camp swim lessons with additional swim lessons . Classes are offered at the Recreation Center , call 847.579.4051 for details .
Heller Nature Center Hiking , geocaching , archery and / or teams course .
Rosewood Beach
Campers attend open swim at Rosewood Beach throughout the summer . For camper safety , designated swim areas are assigned .
Supervised by certified lifeguards .
Highland Park Golf Learning Center Miniature Golf Golf
Centennial Ice Arena Gymnastics and / or ice skating .
After Camp Option
Need more time in your camp day ? You have the option to sign up for After Camp that runs until 5:30pm . After Camp is available for the 4 and 7-week camp programs at all locations ( not available for our weekly sports camps ). After Camp participants are provided with a healthy snack .
Following current guidelines , After Camp participants must stay with their regular day camp group and location . Siblings in separate camp locations must attend After Camp at their original camp location . Participants must be signed out by an authorized adult by 5:30pm . Drop-in , day-by-day or customized schedules are not permitted , no exceptions . After camp is subject to cancellation if the minimum number of participants is not met by June 1 .
Location Changes
Please note that a camp location may change from time to time due to unforeseen building repairs and construction schedules . The Park District of Highland Park recognizes and thanks School Districts 112 and 113 for use of their facilities .
Transportation
Door-to-door bus service is not available for the 2021 camp season . Campers must be driven to camp by an authorized adult after completing the self-wellness assessment .
Carpooling between campers who do not reside in the same house and are in different camp groups may be prohibited based on CDC , IDPH , DCEO guidelines .
Occasionally , campers will be transported via air-conditioned school buses with seatbelts . Only one camper per bus seat may be allowed for social distancing while on the bus . When the weather permits , the windows will be open in addition to air conditioning to allow for additional ventilation .
