way Bush talked with the colors of the American flag in the background sent a subliminal message to Americans indicating Bush is a symbol of America.

On the other hand Kerry’s campaign used facts to promote their candidate. The other camp’s video message entirely focused on facts about social and

economical problems the United Sates faced at that time. The short video addressed war issues, health care, oil pumping and so on. The advertisement used a rational appeal in sending a message to Americans that Kerry is a sane realistic man. Questions like “If you think we can do this...” and “If you think we need this…” dominated the ad. While Bush did not directly ask people to vote for him, Kerry partially did. He sent a subliminal message that meant “this country sucks under Bush’s leadership, pick me instead!”

People need to know who owns what channels; because the owner of the channel has the main impact, of which side of a point of view the channel would present. For example, during the parliament elections in 2011, many owners of television channels heavily promoted the group that they belong to. Naguib Saweeras owner of ON TV, who is also the founder of “El Masreyeen el A7rar”, used his channel to promote the party. The same goes with El Sayed El Badawy who owns Al Hayat channels and is the president of “El Wafd” party.

Another example is Misr25 who is owned by Muslim Brotherhood members. That explains why the channel’s point of view was always aligned with the Muslim Brotherhood’s side. One of the extremely famous examples is CBC. Th well-known channel is owned by Mohamed El Amin, who also owns Al Nahar channel, El Watan, El Fagr and El Youm El Sabee newspapers.

If you are watching CBC or reading El Watan newspaper, you need to keep in mind that the owner of the channel was closely linked to Mubarak’s regime and its icons represented in Mansour Amer and many others. Therefore, it will always be from the point of view that is against the 25th of January revolution.
