TOP CONTRACTORS RECOGNISED
Our top contractors were recognised in the recent
Canterbury Westland Civil Contractors Excellence Awards.
As one of the sponsors of the 2019 Gough/Humes
Canterbury Westland Civil Contractors Excellence Awards,
CAM Magazine was delighted to celebrate the successes
of the award winners at the recent gala award dinner in
November at Addington Racecourse, Christchurch.
CAM Magazine has been involved in the sponsorship of the
awards for 15 years for the Canterbury region. During that
time many projects, large and small, have been showcased
for their innovation, complexity and ability to complete on
time. It’s no easy feat, as some of the projects are at the
mercy of external forces such as the dreaded weather.
The Awards, in part, recognise top people working on top
projects in the Canterbury region, of which there are many.
The Awards also recognise the efforts and hard work being
done by companies in the areas of Health and Safety,
Company Training, Company Image and Innovation.
The Civil Contractors New Zealand organisation is
structured around 13 branches, all who aim to have the
concerns, interests and views of their membership heard at
both regional and national level. The organisation also has
a series of technical committees who are a hive of expert
knowledge in the areas of traffic and road safety, pavement
Grounds & Services Ltd took out the Geofabrics NZ Ltd Environmental Award for their work for the Sparks Road Wetland. The wetland was
completed on time with no issues due to the careful planning and understanding of the risks by this talented firm.

This is a monthly series on businesses in our industry. We profile one business per month to find out how our hard-working
business owners, employees and contractors manage to run these specialist businesses and what makes them tick in the
New Zealand trade business environment. These are the stories of our CAM people.
