editor’s note
For Michiganders, summer is a special season. We
wait all winter to linger in the lake and stay up riding
bikes until the stars come out. From Memorial Day to
Labor Day, we’re in a high speed chase to fill our days
with as much warm weather magic as we can muster.
Before we know it, the back to school sales and sports
practices will be popping up to remind us of just how
short these summer days really are.
In the midst of a season this full, it takes a lot of in-
tentionality to keep ourselves rooted in what doesn’t
change like the weather - Jesus Christ. From week-
ends at the cottage to endless days with little routine,
it’s easy to slip out of the habits that keep us grounded
in our faith. How do we enjoy what makes these sum-
mer days so special while not falling away from the
practices of our faith?
In this summer issue of the Calvary Life, we hope you’ll
find encouragement to stay focused in your pursuit
of Jesus even in a season where the routine may fall
away. Whether you choose to invite your neighbors
into your home or spend time outdoors enjoying God’s
revelation in nature, we trust that He will meet you in a
fresh way when you seek after Him anew. Sometimes
we need to get outside of what we’ve always done to
really hear from God. May we make time to listen no
matter where this summer finds us.
