Gifts of
the Spirit
Have you ever unwrapped a gift which led to another gift
to unwrap which led to another? When we unwrap the gift
of life through God’s Son, we find a number of gifts inside,
including the gift of God’s Presence, the Holy Spirit. Jesus
said, “For if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to
you” (John 16:7). Jesus had to die for our sin, resurrect from
the dead, and then ascend into Heaven in order for this gift
to be given. On Pentecost, Peter proclaimed to the crowd
who was gathered, “Exalted to the right hand of God, Jesus
has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and
has poured out what you now see and hear.” (Acts 2:33)
This gift was and is life-changing. No doubt the disciples
had been impacted by Jesus and his teaching but they
