sermon about God speaking to us through His Word should have done the job. Still as the time got nearer I was more and more unsure I should be leading a Bible anything. Victoria, my 4 year-old asked me the very next day to be in "choir with her." So we pretended to be singing in the Calvary Choir. Then she asked me to "do the talking." I asked "like the sermon?" and she said “Yes, the Bible talking." I had just signed up to an email devotional for kids and guess what that day’s devotional or as Victoria would say the "Bible talking" was about?!? Yep, God sent Moses but he did not think he could do it. This doubting Thomas STILL did not believe the words for Moses from the God who created Heaven and Earth would be words for me. A few days later, Victoria handed me one of her Bible story books and she started teaching me. I was so proud of her, I started video recording on my phone. She threw me for a loop when she told me to read now. I was not even looking at the book or what page when I randomly opened and read out loud: "When suddenly the bush caught fire!” "And God spoke to Moses." It's clear in the video I start to get choked up as I read the rest of the story. ALL OF THIS to bring me to Detroit. I had made six notebooks and intended to use one as an example. My mom told me that I should not get my hopes up of many people. I assured my mom I knew God would bring exactly how many He would have. This Bible Study had been WELL prayed for! At 2:00 it was my mom and the lady who lives next to her. At 2:01 we had another lady from the complex who had brought... her BIBLE!!! I was SO glad to see this! About three sentences in and two more ladies joined. When I was handing out the notebooks we had yet another and... she had her Bible! I am so glad to see my mom does in fact have Bible reading Christians in her complex with her!!!!! I was also snickering at how God would affirm my telling them that God had so desired to bring this study to them, and He knew exactly who would attend, that I handed out the SIXTH and last notebook. Yep, right down to the very number of notebooks I would bring, this was and IS God’s study. I brought my Bible and bookmarked a few pages I had highlighted in purple crayon. Joanna had taught me to pray and even expect God to speak to me through His Word. I did, and it happened so often I added an additional color to my highlighting (Blue= I don't understand look up on BlueLetterBible.com later, Yellow= Just an awesome verse, Orange= Attribute of God, Green= an area I know I need growth in, and Red= prayers). Now purple, every time God speaks specifically and directly to me! I found it easy to tell them how incredible it is to have GOD do this and that I KNOW He does! I read a few times He had, during a prayer draught "Come let us reason together" in Isaiah, fighting panic attacks I had likened this to drowning. "I will not let the waters sweep over you," thinking about the 'good ol’ days' "Only a fool wishes for the former days." God helped me explain how to use the study and even clearly opened the way for me to give my story of coming to salvation! I do not think my mom had heard my testimony previously. He also brought the words so fluidly that I was BRIEF and CLEAR! I was surely being prayed for! The ladies seemed to understand how to continue with the study and were willing and eager to do the "homework." My husband said afterwards, "You are a good public speaker." WHAT?! ME! And that proved this was ALL God. He truly was saying HE would help me speak and teach me what to say. The story is still unfolding, but God has impressed on my heart Luke 10:2-3, "The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you….” By Shaun Nicholls Neighborhood Bible Study Leader Shaun is a beloved daughter of God, wife to her handsome husband Darin, and mother of two silly girls.
