Deacons an update from the The beginning of the year was a busy one for the Deacons as we said goodbye to the men who finished their terms and welcomed the men God chose to serve for the next three years. We’ve received our new committee assignments and have begun to settle in to working in those areas. The Deacons have several priorities for the upcoming year. One of the biggest is spending time praying and thinking about the nuts and bolts of benevolence at Calvary. God has blessed us with a great benevolence ministry with steady financial funding and committed staff and volunteers to help make the ministry possible. As we look forward, we’re seeking God’s direction on any changes that may need to be made, especially as we look to involve more volunteers in the ministry and better serve those who need help. current deacons Steve Bagley Scott Bowman Dan DeVries Brian Haskin Darren Herweyer Rick Huls Josh Hulst Paul Koprowski Matt Kromke Mike Metcalf Jon Rudolph Rob Umstead Calvary has the opportunity to work with the Luis Palau Association alongside many other area churches to bring CityFest to Grand Rapids in September. The Elders have asked the Deacons to prayerfully determine to what level Calvary will be involved financially. We continue to pray and discuss and look forward to finalizing our commitment. In addition to our large group priorities, several of the Deacon committees are in the middle of important work: The Risk Advisory Committee continues to update our emergency procedures. The additions and changes to our building have changed the way we handle evacuations, fires, and other needs. The group is updating documents posted in each room as well as training staff and volunteers on how to respond if the need arises. The Personnel Committee is in the middle of bringing staff policies up to date and reviewing the staff handbook. It’s a joy to serve God and Calvary Church as Deacons and we’re thankful for your prayers and support.
