Health Guidelines We follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics which states that a child should not leave home when any of the following symptoms are displayed: • fever, vomiting, diarrhea within the previous 24 hours • sore throat • green or yellow discharge from the nose • any skin infections; pink eye or other eye infections • lice • any unexplained rash • croup • any communicable diseases For the protection of children and team members, fresh paper liners and gloves are required each instance of changing a diaper. In the nursery rooms (birth through two-yearolds) all toys that have been mouthed are placed in a “to be washed” basket. In the preschool rooms (three- and fouryear-olds) toys are periodically washed and disinfected. All rooms are equipped with age appropriate toys and facilities. The Children’s Ministry staff provides snacks that have been approved as being nut-free. In the nursery, plain Cheerios are provided; in the preschool area, original Goldfish crackers are made available to the children; food and nonfood incentives are used in the elementary area. For a list of these incentives, please contact our office. If your child requires a different snack than these due to a food allergy, please provide a nut-free snack in a sealed, labeled baggie. Calvary Church team members do not dispense medications of any kind including creams, ointments, and lotions. If your child has an EpiPen, please contact one of the Calvary Church children’s ministry staff members. Emergency Procedures Our Facility Services personnel are trained in First Aid and CPR, and are readily available during all services and events. of the room, please come to that child’s class; if you are in a class, a team member will come to the room to get you. In the case of a medical emergency that is specific to your child we will locate you using the information you provided on your child’s sign-in sheet. For this reason, it is important that your location is noted on the sign-in sheets for each of your children. If you are in the Sanctuary or the Chapel, and see your child’s number displayed on the digital box at the front In the case of an emergency involving the entire building, you will be instructed as to where and how you may pick up your child. Emergency procedures are posted in each room for weather-related incidents. Our team members have been trained in evacuation procedures. 9
