Stand fast in it” (1 Peter 5:12). These words of the Apostle Peter were meant to bring both a challenge and encouragement to all believers during certain times of difficulties and suffering. Our worship team took on the challenge of theming and providing support to this year’s sermon series and in doing so were reminded week after week concerning the grace of God that provides a place of refuge. Our worship services were continuous reminders that we can be strong, firm and steadfast in an uncertain world. 2013-2014 by the numbers Choir Members: 188 Orchestra: 50 Praise Team: 25 Festival of Lights cast, musicians, crew: 300+ Festival of Lights attendance: 12,500+ Bibles handed out at Festival of Lights: 1500+ One way that we offered that grace and refuge to others this year was through Festival of Lights, when we welcomed many to hear a message of hope, and gave away over 1500 Bibles to those who joined us. During Lent, we encouraged one another to focus especially on the book of 1 Peter and our Holy Week prayer garden walked us through Peter’s life, looking particularly at how he was (and by extension we are) called to follow, to risk, to embrace Jesus, to love, and to suffer. Our 2013 Festival of Lights production, called Christmas at Hollington Hall, followed the Wellington family as they prepared for their annual Christmas party. Our 2014 Prayer Garden encouraged us to step out in faith, like the Apostle Peter, as Jesus called him to step out of the comfort of a boat and walk on water. We hosted a few summer arts workshops, where children and adults were challenged to use the arts in worship. CALVARY CHURCH 2013-2014 ANNUAL REPORT | 5
