Calvary’s Resident Program has
continued to grow and mature this
year. It has especially been a great
joy to see the personal growth in the
lives of each of our residents as they
serve Christ by serving others here at
Calvary. Our desire is to assist men and
women whose goal is to serve God in
developing their potential and refining
their calling as spiritual leaders. God
has most certainly been answering our
prayers for this program.
This past year has seen two residents
graduate and move into full-time ministry: Andy Crowder and Eric Lapata.
During Andy’s residency, he spent time
working in a variety of areas at Calvary
(Men’s, Missions, and others), and he
will now be a full-time member of our
Worship department. Eric’s service
as a resident included time in Special
Needs, 5th and 6th Grade, and Sunday
evening preaching. He left Calvary
this summer to serve in high school
ministry at The Chapel in Sandusky, OH.
Both of these young men have been
a blessing throughout Calvary and we
look forward to seeing their ministries
continue.
Continuing with us this year are Ardo
Draper, Vida Wilson and Lee Bergakker. All three of these residents have
served in diverse ministry settings and
will continue this year, as they seek
to deepen their walks with Jesus and
follow His calling in their lives. We are
encouraged to see the relationships
they are building and the love of Jesus
that they share through them.
Coming in new this year are Marco
Salazar and Nam Kim. Marco has been
working on staff for a year in facilities,
and he will be focusing on discipleship
and spiritual formation opportunities.
Nam has been translating our weekly
sermons into Korean for some time,
making our worship services more
accessible to 100+ Korean attendees.
He will continue this important ministry and also will begin his residency in
Pastoral Care.
We thank God for the blessing our
resident program is to Calvary, and for
the way that blessing is shared with
others as our residents move into fulltime ministry around the corner and
around the world. Pray for our residents and former residents, that God
would continue to use them to build
His kingdom.
communications staff
Sarah Merrill, Jackie Rice, Sara Tindall
The communications department
continues to seek to help Calvary communicate the love of God effectively,
in word and deed. Our prayer is that
everything we say or do will point our
congregation and those around us in
the community to Jesus.
We continued our outreach initiative
this year, sending postcards to 20,000
people in our surrounding community
three times (last fall, at Christmas and
Easter). We also spent considerable time
and energy on a new church directory.
This year, a couple of special initiatives have been on the forefront of our
internal communication efforts: the
elders’ work on the What We Believe
and What We Teach documents and
the Grace Beyond building project. Both
of these are of great importance in the
life of the church, and we pray that
they are a way that God’s Spirit unifies
and strengthens the congregation.
We particularly enjoyed spending some
time this year challenging ourselves
creatively, creating verses that followed along the sermon series. Many
of these were posted in Calvary’s social media accounts, and we hope that
they were a blessing to you.
