This has been a great advantage for both our workers and our patrons. However, keeping our patron database current has been a challenge, as each download of updates were creating duplicate patrons. We have been working to solve this issue, and hope the next download will be successful. We currently have 17 volunteers who work during the hours we are open as well as for the many tasks to be accomplished each week. We also have a new volunteer who has been working on our Calvary Life articles. This past year our volunteers worked 533 hours, serving our patrons during the hours the library is open. Our volunteers also logged more than 900 hours when we are closed to keep the library running smoothly. We hope to do our annual inventory this fall. We kicked off our year with a cookout on the new Calvary picnic area. Andy Crowder and his band provided music while Jim spoke to us on the topic of people pleasing. Many men signed up for our Bible studies during this event. The softball and basketball teams continued to provide community and outreach opportunities for men of all ages. March Madness was a huge success with Jason Hansen (former kicker for the Detroit Lions) as our speaker. He shared that success and popularity doesn’t bring happiness and peace. Only a relationship with Christ can do that. Our Tigers’ game trip was also well attended again this past year and continues to be a popular event for our men. We had a great Men’s Conference with our featured speaker Dr. Dennis Swanberg. He challenged the men with the importance of having other men involved in their lives. Most of our six breakout sessions were taught by former pastors and residents from Calvary. Our Men’s small groups continued to thrive as they studied the Bible together and learned about authentic biblical manhood. Avenue continued to provide support and accountability for men dealing with sexual sin. Mission The library’s mission is to provide our patrons with books and resource materials which uphold biblical principles and values in order to encourage, edify, equip and strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ.
