Deacons report Deacons (8/31/2016) Steve Bagley, Nate Benham, Brent Enders, Jim Howell, Josh Hulst, Mark Johnson, Brian Klaver, Bob Meredith, Phil Neal, Jeff Rogers, Jon Rudolph, Kim Velting, Josh Warren, Dan Wiersma, Todd Wilde This year our church has studied both the courage to obey and how to live by faith. Well I would say that our congregation has certain- ly stepped up in faith in amazing ways. You have heard numerous stories throughout this year of our members stepping out in faith and how God has provided for them and blessed them for their obedi- ence to His calling. This year has certainly been an interesting year to report on, more than anything, the message that everyone should receive is that our congregation has responded in faith and the re- sult is amazing! As to the financial report, this is certainly an uncommon year to re- port. We have been closed much of the year at our main campus, have had all the changes that come along with a transition to a new space, and have had the Grace Beyond building project continuing on through all of this! Really big stuff in the life of Calvary Church to be sure. We did conclude the year behind budgeted giving expecta- tion by around 4.2%. However, the Church and its staff have been watching this through the year and have responded in kind by making necessary changes and adjust- ments during along the way. While 38 year-end expenses are not yet final- ized, we will be below expenses in an amount that will make up for all or a bit more of the giving shortfall. This scenario has not been com- mon in our past, and while maybe you are slightly troubled to hear this report, I think it important to recall everything that has gone on in the past fiscal year in the life of Calvary Church and the giving that has obediently been given toward Grace Beyond during this same time. As a deacon board we respond with praise and gratitude for what God has done and for the obedient giving and sacrifice that has clearly been made by our con- gregation members. The Finance Department is work- ing on completing a formalized year-end financial report. Once complete, it will be made available to the congregation upon request. On behalf of the deacons, we are grateful for your submission to God and your obedience to His calling to give toward the work of Christ’s church in this place.
