Over this past ministry year , the Worship Ministry has focused together on the psalms . Each week we have time together to open God ’ s Word and listen for what He is trying to encourage us with , challenge us with , remind us of and open our eyes to . By focusing on the psalms we ’ ve been given the opportunity to look at the highs and lows of life through the eyes of the psalmist and recognize that the lives that we lead are not always easy , pleasant or the way we want them to be . Through these times together it has reminded us that whatever season of life we are in that there is always room to praise God and give Him glory . Psalm 5:1-2 shows us how to approach God in the midst of hardship and struggle , “ Listen to my words , LORD , consider my lament . Hear my cry for help , my King and my God , for to you I pray .” We are immediately reminded in verse three that , “ In the morning , LORD , you hear my voice ; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly .” We can also see that in every situation , good or bad , God remains the same . His holiness , faithfulness , power , love and mercy are always true and always worthy of our praise . Psalm 29 reminds us to give Him the glory , “ Ascribe to the Lord , you heavenly beings , ascribe to the Lord glory and strength . Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name ; worship the Lord in the splendor of His holiness .”
It has been a season for us in the Worship ministry where we have been given a greater focus on God ’ s Word and the truth that it brings and offers and how we can use our songs and prayers to glorify Him alone . We were reminded through Psalm 119:9-16 just how important it is to have God ’ s Word planted deep in our hearts so that we will have that truth with us wherever we go .
9
How can a young person stay on the path of purity ?
By living according to your word .
10
I seek you with all my heart ; do not let me stray from your commands .
11
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you .
12
Praise be to you , LORD ; teach me your decrees .
13
With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth .
14
I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches .
15
I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways .
16
I delight in your decrees ; I will not neglect your word .
God has given us an incredible blessing to be a part of the Worship ministry and we are grateful to use skills and abilities that He has given us to praise Him and give Him glory . Without the foundation of God ’ s Word and His truth however it can be empty melodies and chords . Thank You Lord for providing us Your very Word to learn from and carry with us to impact and direct our lives !
