Calvary Church Annual Report AnnualReport2018-web | Page 5

deacons God is good, all the time and we have experienced his goodness this year in our new fa- cilities through the Grace Beyond project. The deacons serving currently and in this past year have been able to see the benefits of new space through the expansion of ministries, the ability to host community events, the creation of a welcoming environment for Calvary Care, and the safe and inviting atmosphere of the children and youth areas. The deacons are thankful that the financial needs of Grace Beyond are nearly complete and have spent time this year budgeting towards that end. Calvary congregants continue to faithfully give of their time, talent, and treasures. So many ministries at Calvary and around the world benefit from their continued generosity. Each year God takes what we give, multiplies it for his kingdom, and provides for the financial expenses and commitments of Calvary Church. We are so thankful. Our time in budgeting this past fiscal year was one with challenge and joy as we saw God’s provision but also saw rising costs in healthcare for staff, Grace Beyond debt service, a larger building to maintain, and the desire to expand ministries. Calvary staff and deacons spent time in prayer and were able to create a plan to meet these demands with only a slight increase overall to the annual budget. In addition to working through the budgeting process, deacons have participated in the dis- cussion of women serving as deacons. As God has directed the elders into what His word says, he has also made it clear to deacons that women in the deaconship at Calvary is where he is leading us. A team of deacons have helped in the planning of communication and in organizing the events to start the conversation with Calvary congregants. We continue to work towards what God has for us as we trust and obey his voice. As God directs us into new opportunities such as women serving as deacons, we are thank- ful that he continues to provide the Holy Spirit’s direction. The gift of prayer has been crucial to the deacons this year. We are thankful that we serve a living and active God.
