We began the year with our Heroes event. Each of our 16
departments of ministry were represented in the Gym as
they interacted with potential volunteers. Many people
found a place to serve and participate as a result of their
visit to Heroes. We are transitioning this year from the
annual Heroes event to providing year-round opportunities
for volunteers to learn more about various ministries at
Calvary. Through our new bulletin boards and mobile serving kiosk, we are able to present every area (over 140!) in
which a person could serve or participate here at Calvary
Church. We are looking forward to utilizing this year-round
approach to more effectively communicate the opportunities available to serve others and also foster community
among our church family.
Another aspect we have enjoyed throughout this year
is showing appreciation to those that have volunteered
in ministry. Serving the Lord was never intended to be a
“lone ranger” activity! We are SO thankful for the family,
the team, the community that God has established in His
church. We appreciate the hundreds of volunteers that
dedicate countless hours of prayer, thought, energy and
time to being “Christ’s Church in this place.”
Discovery (the process in which a trained facilitator helps
identify one’s spiritual gifts by talking through two short
inventories and helps encourage spiritual growth through
prayer and discussion) has continued to be beneficial in
the lives of several Calvary attendees. We look forward to
expanding and promoting this ministry even more in the
coming year.
