Perseverance:
[defined] Continuance in a state of grace to the end,
leading to eternal salvation.
Calvary Church serves over 2000 older
adults, ages 60 and over. Calvary’s
“Baby Boomer” generation continues
to grow as we expect this age group
to increase by 35% over the next five
years. This year’s transition to new
leadership in our senior community
has been both challenging and rewarding, as we began the process of
preparing for the future needs of our
older adults as well as coordinating
current ministry programs.

together providing compassion, pastoral care and ministry coordination with
other Calvary ministry departments to see that, our older adults remain a top
priority at Calvary Church. This past years Health and Wellness Expo is a prime
example, giving our seniors needed information on issues related to financial
planning, health and health insurance concerns, as well as downsizing assistance. This opportunity was not just for Calvary seniors. All of West Michigan
was invited to attend giving our senior volunteers the opportunity to share
Christ with those who attended from outside our church walls.
Our Senior Ministry team of three staff members and approximately 100 volunteers is dedicated to meeting the needs of our growing older adult population,
emphasizing community and spiritual growth through prayer and Bible study.
Equipping seniors to share the gospel of Christ while continuing to strengthen their own spirituality is our goal and key to a Christ-centered Senior Adult
Ministry at Calvary Church.

Chera Ministry continues to serve over
130 Calvary widows and widowers with a
team of volunteers dedicated to fulfilling
our goal of compassion and continued connection with those who have lost spouses
within the past 24 months. Two Calvary
Board-sponsored brunches and a Valentine’s Day Young Adult Ministry-sponsored
brunch were coordinated during the year.
Wednesday Senior Bible Study teacher
Pastor Bruce continues to teach approximately 135 to 150 senior adults each week.
