“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by
your will they existed and were created.” Revelation 4:11
As a worship ministry, it is our privilege to lead our
church each week in giving God the glory, honor and
praise that He is due. Over this past year we have
had two focuses as a ministry, both of which came to
be as God worked through the hearts of our people
and our leadership.
The first focus has been worshipping in unity. For
many years our ministry has operated as three in-
dependent entities (Choir, Praise Band and Orches-
tra) that would overlap on Sunday mornings during
the worship service. This past year, however, there
has been an intentionality between all three groups
to care for each other, pray for each other and love
one another in better and deeper ways. There have
been countless members of our choir, orchestra and
praise team who have been blessed by others in the
ministry. Many have received home-cooked meals,
hospital visits, gift cards, flowers, cards of encour-
agement, lawn care and home maintenance (even
a roof!). The blessings are often physical in nature,
things, actions or services, but blessings that contin-
ue to draw us closer as a ministry of people bound
together by a mutual love for the Lord. We hope that
we will be more Christ-like to those around us and
show His love to those we serve with.
The second focus has been on worship itself. Simply
put, worship is giving glory and/or adoration. When
we worship God we are placing Him above all else.
Now, I admit that it is easy to find oneself coming to
church and participating in the same tasks, from the
same seat, week after week, getting lost in the rou-
tine. What sets these times apart from what could be-
come a mundane ritual is the work of the Holy Spirit.
