Special Needs
As Calvary Church seeks to
be Christ’s church in this place, the
Special Needs Ministry continues
to welcome and care for individuals
with special needs and their
families. This is done in a variety
of ways throughout the ministry
on a weekly and daily basis, but
a couple of stories come to mind
that have supported the vision of
inclusion and the commitment to
care and community.
Jennifer is a single mom
whose son attends the Explorers
class on Sunday morning and
Kids-N-Action on Wednesday
evenings. It was discovered
that Jennifer desired to be in
community but finding childcare
during the week was “just one
more thing.” Thanks to connections
between staff, volunteers and
Jennifer, childcare and funding
was secured so she could begin
attending the Tuesday evening
Women’s Bible Study.
Then there is Kara, who
navigates around this world in a
wheelchair. She attends Calvary’s
worship services, serves as a
greeter and attends the Go Getters
class on Sunday mornings. Kara
was recently baptized, became
