Give me feet that walk in truth; Lips that praise You Calvary Community Staff: Lee Content, Jakob Jackson, Brenda Neher, Karen VanHolstyn, Mark Welling as You’re due; A life that worships only You, With an undivided heart. elders As Elders, we have spent the past year especially focused on care. It has been our particular joy to spend concerted time the first Tuesday of each month praying for and with members of our congregation. Many of you have joined us during these times as you sought God’s healing touch on your spiritual lives, on your relationships or on your physical bodies. We have even been blessed to welcome entire small groups who have come together to pray for one of their members. Without a doubt, this monthly time of prayer is the highlight from this past year. It is our greatest privilege to humbly serve Christ and His church in this way. About five years ago, our elder board felt led by God to review Calvary’s Statement of Belief in order to strengthen and clarify it for today’s generations. The results of that process were made public for congregational review this past summer in a two-part document that includes a short What We Believe statement and a much longer description entitled What We Teach. If you have not had the opportunity to review this document, I urge you to read through it and let us know if you have questions or if portions of it remain unclear. Our intention is to ask the congregation for permission to use it in our new members classes for a trial year, and then bring a final version of the What We Believe portion to you for a vote in September 2014, to be adopted into Calvary’s constitution. Another significant concern we have been praying through is the church’s building and the space needs it presents. Over the past year, God made clear that while we are not to build a much larger sanctuary, He wants us to be better stewards of the location He has entrusted to us. We are asking God to direct us as we consider changes in our facility to place more emphasis on prayer, expanded and safer areas for our children and young people, and better community space. Because the 1984 NIV is no longer available, we also spent time in prayer and study looking at possible translations for Calvary to use in our worship services. Beginning this fall, we will be moving to the 2011 NIV. We believe that this translation is a balanced representation of the original. Its similarity to the 1984 NIV will enable a smooth transition for our congregation. calvary community The function of the Calvary Community department is to facilitate aut
