resident program Resident Program: Tom Olsson, Eric Lapata, Andy Crowder, Lee Bergakker The goal of Calvary’s Pastoral Resident program is to raise up the next generation of Christian leaders. We seek to assist individuals whose goal is to serve God through full-time ministry in developing their potential and refining their calling as spiritual leaders through direct involvement in ministry. Pastoral Residents generally serve for 18 to 24 months at Calvary. During that period they participate in a wide range of ministries and spend time with pastoral staff who give feedback and coaching. In the past year, we have been thrilled to see two of our former residents go on to further ministry in God’s kingdom. JP Gaylord, who ended his residency a year ago, is now a missionary serving in France (you can read more about his calling in the Missions report). Lenski Lorens was called to be the Senior Pastor of Compass Church, a congregation on the southwest side of Grand Rapids. This spring we were able to significantly upgrade our old Athena library software with newer Destiny software program. Though still in a learning curve, we are extremely pleased to have the library catalog available anytime online. The biggest advantage for our library volunteers is the ability to work from home or to access our collection. This has streamlined our workload and will allow us to better serve the needs of our patrons. Library cards are no longer issued, resulting in a cost savings. M
