Men’s Ministries Staff: Earl Thomas, Lou DeGraaf men 2012-2013 by the numbers Our Men’s Ministry hosted a pig roast for our Fall Kick Off Event. We enjoyed great food and heard testimonies from men who attended each of our study groups. This was done around a great campfire. Many new men signed up for the fall study groups. We have men who responded to two of our breakfast speakers, from Guiding Light Mission and Bethany Christian Services to come alongside some of their struggling men and boys. We are excited that Dr. Dennis Swanberg is going to be our keynote speaker for our next Men’s Conference in May. Watch for more details to come. Approximately 75 guys attended our Detroit Tiger trip. We filled two coach buses with dads, sons and grandsons, who had a great time watching the Tigers play the Cardinals. 6 men’s Bible studies met at various times throughout each week. 150 men attended the Kickoff Pig Roast last fall. 375 men attended our bimonthly Saturday morning breakfasts where they heard great speakers and were treated to amazing cooking from Chefs Kevin and Neal. We fielded 3 softball teams this summer and hosted an internal basketball league as well. Several hundred people of all ages attended our annual March Madness outreach event, with everyone enjoying food and basketball together. We have a number of men’s Bible studies and are looking to launch additional community groups this coming year, as our men seek to build deep relationships and experience authentic community. senior adults Senior Adults Staff: Pastor Bruce, Mike Looney, Regina Scovill 2012-2013 by the numbers Calvary Church serves over 1800 Senior Adults age 60 and over. Nationwide, 10,000 adults per day are turning 62 as this “baby boomer generation” enters the ranks of what was once considered retirement age. This past year we began a time of transition as our former Senior’s Pastor, Tom Couch, was called to be the lead pastor of another church in our area. We have rejoiced as God continued His work through many faithful Calvary ministry volunteers. Calvary’s Senior Adult Ministry is changing to meet the needs of this growing senior church population. As of July 1, 2013, Pastor Bruce has added the responsibility of meeting the pastoral needs of the Senior’s Ministry to his work in Missions and Mike Looney has been added to the staff in a programing and organizational position. Regina Scovill will continue as the Administrative Assistant. Our Senior Ministry team of approximately 75 volunteers and staff is dedicated to meeting the needs of today’s growing senior population, equipping them to continue to grow, learn and especially to connect with one another and with God. 14 | Calvary Church Annual Report 20 people attend a monthly luncheon with a guest speaker for Confident Caregivers.
