Why Your Department Should Participate
This annual Challenge is an exceptional tool that allows your
agency to take a hard look at their department’s effectiveness.
Documenting traffic safety efforts can help provide
accountability and prove the value of a strong traffic safety
program, which can be beneficial during budget negotiations.
Participating in the Challenge facilitates documentation of your

agency’s effectiveness that can be used in future grant proposals.
To showcase your agency’s efforts, category winners may choose
to have their awards presented in front of their City Council or
Board of Supervisors. Participating in this competition can bring
a great deal of positive attention to your agency and improve its
standing within the community.
