W. Sill award that was adopted by the Board of Directors
in 2015 to honor the vision and accomplishments of West
Covina Police Chief, Allen W. Sill and the founding chiefs
who created the California Police Chiefs Association was
awarded to Retired Chief, Pete Dunbar.
At Wednesday evening’s Installation Dinner, Chief Ed
Medrano was honored for his leadership as the outgoing
Cal Chiefs’ President. Chief Medrano was instrumental in
strengthening the association’s legislative efforts, improving
the image of law enforcement through media outreach
and launching the Addressing the National Narrative
committee. The association welcomed Chief David Swing
from the Morgan Hill Police Department as the 53rd
President. Chief Ronald Lawrence from Citrus Heights
Police Department was elected as 1st Vice President, Chief
Eric Nuñez from the Los Alamitos Police Department
was elected as 2nd Vice President, Chief Rob Handy from
Huntington Beach Police Department was elected as 3rd
Vice President and Chief Jennifer Tejada from Emeryville
Police Department was elected as Director at Large.
