parades, fireworks, colorful pageantry, and complimentary
Indian food and beverages.
The Livingston Police Department have two full-time
Sikh police officers who are able share many of the cultural
practices of Sikhism with other department members to
allow for a better understanding and at the same time,
enhance community relationships. Our Sikh officers,
Wapinder Kang and Kamalpreet Gill, are both able to
respond to calls involving members of the Sikh community
and speak Punjabi and other native languages to quickly
and effectively resolve any issue or concern that may arise.
They are the true ombudsman of the department who also
resourcefully educate our work force on their religion and
culture and in the end, help our department be the best it
can be in collaborating with the Indian community.  ■
