During the holiday season , Nevada Union FFA is in the spirit of giving . Every December , Nevada County ( the county in which Nevada Union High School is located ) collects cans of food to be donated to the community Donation Day Parade that goes through downtown Grass Valley on December 14th . Nevada Union FFA has collected and brought the most cans almost every year of the Donation Day Parade and by far the most cans collected within the High School . The 2016 Donation Day was the 133rd Annual Donation Day that Nevada County has put together , and Nevada Union FFA was excited to participate and donate once again .

ESCONDIDO FFA
The Life of a Livestock Intern
By Tori Pedersen
Having 22 ewes , one ram , two goats , and two sows has created the need to hire interns at the Escondido High School farm . The applicants are students in the Escondido FFA department who would like to learn more about the livestock aspect of agriculture and are interviewed personally by the FFA advisor . The fi ve interns feed the animals , give medication , clean the facilities , and help run the breeding program at the school farm . Some of the most diffi cult and stressful times of the year are breeding season and fair season because the interns are on call every minute of every day in case of an emergency . As an intern , the selected students receive the opportunity to learn more about agriculture , livestock , and veterinary practices , which can be helpful in discovering different career opportunities in agriculture . While on the job , interns learn valuable life lessons such as time management , responsibility , organization , and teamwork . All members are encouraged to apply for an internship as long as they are determined , hardworking , and have a love for animals .
