Picture the suitcase: a duffle bag jam-packed with my FFA uniform, a few casual clothes, a camo shirt and
overalls, and enough bobby pins to last me through the apocalypse. Now think of the place: Scicon, a camp
setup with a series of cabins placed in the hot, winding hills of Porterville, California, and studded with trees
and the occasional snake. You may want to pull out a smelly marker now and sketch the 2014 Regional
Officer Leadership Conference (ROLC), but a few details will help fill in the blank spaces on the
canvas!
From July 7-10, the officers from all six regions ventured as many as eleven hours to join
the State Officers for the experience of a lifetime, only to find out (during the theme skit
presentation) that the conference itself was “in our hands.” Along with a redneck-themed
