While making our way
around the show, we were
treated to seeing many
cakes being created live
as the attendees milled
around them.
It was truly amazing to be
able to watch talented
artists such as Karen
Portaleo, Daniel Dieguez,
Nathasja Flapper, Carla
Puig, Emma Stewart, and
Phil Jenson create stun-
ning pieces of edible art
right in front of our eyes.
The show itself was crammed
with new and innovative
products, and many of the
world’s most famous cake
artists made themselves avail-
able at stands throughout the
NEC.
Demonstrations were held in
three theatres, and attendees
also had the option of attend-
ing full and half day classes.
Other breathtaking exhibits included a life-size wedding dress and
a highly emotive war horse display by Emma Jayne.
A variety of collaborations were also exhibited, including The
Magical Dragon Machine, a towering smoke-blowing dragon that
moved; a group of Snow White-themed pieces entitled That Grimm
Obsession; and the Caketastics’ interpretation of world issues.
