Originating in Winnipeg in 2016, the outdoor game is exactly what it sounds like: a life-size mash-up of curling and the classic board game Crokinole. Here’s how it works: Teams of two take turns sliding stones toward painted rings in the centre of a circular ice sheet—with the goal of landing stones in the higher-scoring parts of 50 Winter 2018 CAA SASKAtCHeWAn the board. Rocks thrown closest to the centre or dropped into the button receive more points. The team with the highest score at the end of the game wins. Not surprisingly, this icy combo has been an instant hit in Saskatchewan.
