Ride ’ em Cowboy Get out your boots , hats and Wrangler jeans and saddle up for the 48th-annual North Battleford Kinsmen Indoor Rodeo . It ’ s officially springtime when the cowboys and cowgirls dust off their boots and take to the arena for calf roping , steer wrestling , and saddle bronc and bull riding . The rodeo is part of the semi-professional Canadian Cowboys Association circuit and plays out over three days at the North Battleford Civic Centre . Yee-haw ! For MacKay , who shot to success after winning the first season of Top Chef Canada , the launch is his team ’ s third restaurant in his hometown of Saskatoon . The menu has been carefully crafted to incorporate house-made kimchi , sushi and ramen served in handmade Saskatchewan clay bowls . Authentic Mediterranean dishes prepared by chef Georgia Sinaki in a 1950sstyle diner is just one half of the business . The other part is the River Bend Gas Station and market selling ice cream and fireworks alongside Greek ceramics and award-winning olive oil imported from the owner ’ s own olive groves in Crete . The restaurant ’ s decor is a retro mix of black-and-whitecheckered flooring , red vinyl stools and vintage Marilyn Monroe pinups . Service is unhurried but the food is self-indulgent with rich flavours and large portions .
