Whether it’s adequately insured depends on the type
of coverage you have—broad or comprehensive—the ring’s value and the
combined value of any other jewellery.
Broad coverage protects your personal contents only from a named
peril. Named perils are specific types
of loss, such as theft or fire, named
in your insurance policy. If something happens beyond those instances,
you’re not covered.
By contrast, comprehensive insurance covers your personal contents
from all risk—all types of losses (with
the exception of standard exclusions).
This includes typical losses, such as
theft and fire, as well as accidents like
dropping
