CAA members Denys and Colette Audette (above) got some- thing even better than a slippery inver- tebrate—they scored a trip to Mexico. Last year, the couple won CAA’s Early Bird Booking contest, which offers prizes, including travel gear, luggage, CAA Dollars and vacation vouchers, to travellers who book well in advance of takeoff. “We were driving to Sudbury to visit our son and his family. Christine, our CAA travel agent, called to tell us we won! We were shocked,” Colette says. The couple had previously won movie passes through a CAA contest, but they never expected to be gifted a whole trip. Colette and Denys are no strangers to booking early. As avid travellers and sun-seekers—recent trips have included Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic—the couple loves working with CAA Travel. And they see early booking is an added bonus to an already excellent experience. 12 fall 2018 CAA Manitoba With their grand-prize winnings, they savoured Puerto Vallarta’s food, views and wonderful weather. A special highlight for Colette was a visit to the city’s zoo, where she hand-fed a giraffe, one of her favourite animals. Prizes aside, early booking gives travellers peace of mind, ensuring they secure their desired destinations, travel dates and hotels—with time to spare to double check that all- important packing list. If you’re worried about missing out on last-minute seat sales, fear not. Some suppliers offer a free price-drop guarantee for anyone who books early in the season. This allows travellers to get cash back if the price of their vacation goes down after they book. With their Mexico trip behind them, The couple is gearing up for their next getaway: a 2019 trip to Hawaii. And they will definitely book early. “Now that we’ve won once, we can’t wait to try again!” Mon-Wed, Fri 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Thurs 9 a.m.–8 p.m. (not including Home & Property service after 5 p.m.) Sat 9 a.m.–4 p.m. (not including Home & Property service) General 204-571-4111 Travel 204-571-4100 Insurance 204-571-4114 Toll-free 1-877-222-1321 aLtona: 61 2nd Ave. N.E.
