BEFORE YOU GO
Check expiry dates. Ensure your driver’s
licence and vehicle registration don’t
expire while you’re out of the country,
even if you’re leaving your car at home.
Keep your car alive. If your vehicle will be
inactive for months at a time, get a battery
tender, which ensures the battery maintains
a charge at the proper storage voltage.
Purchase one at CAA Manitoba service
centres, through CAA Battery Assist or
online at shop.caamanitoba.com
ON THE ROAD
Heading to Mexico? Autopac coverage is
not valid south of the U.S. border—you’ll
need further documentation. Contact
Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) for
details before you leave. Or if you decide
en route, contact the nearest AAA office.
Driving abroad? Get an International
Driving Permit (IDP), which is valid in
more than 150 countries. For just $25,
it provides an extra piece of photo ID,
as well as a translation of your valid
Canadian driver’s licence in 10 different
languages. Visit a CAA service centre to
apply or print an application online and
mail it in. caamanitoba.com/IDP
Rent a car. CAA Manitoba also offers
rental insurance for coverage worldwide.
