OPENING NIGHTS
Penarth Pier Pavilion
From Fri 11 Oct
Tickets for Fri 11: £15.

After more than 20 years without open access to the general public, the art
deco Penarth Pier Pavilion will re-open this October, and with a mantra of
“involve, educate and Inspire” behind them, we’ve got a lot to look forward
to. A proposed renovation deal worth £4.2 million has provoked its update,
allowing it to be restored to its former glory, whilst maintaining a modern
edge with the help of several new additions to the site.
Whilst the pavilion (and the gallery, event space, cinema, café and shop) shall
open imminently, fans of the project should expect to wait until next April for
the arrival of the highly anticipated restaurant. The organisers of the new
project credit the venue as inspiring people from and around South Wales.
Those planning on venturing to the pavilion between October and December
should brace themselves for an array of taster events, including activities
such as swing dancing and a masque ball (oh so Gossip Girl!) Furthermore,
once the cinema opens on Sat 12 Oct, screenings of a number of films shall
take place between Wednesday and Saturday. Those that wish they were born
in the jazz-fuelled 1940s can look forward to the aptly-titled Swingin’ At The
Pavilion danceathon on Fri 11, where The Siren Sisters, Amanda Whiting and
The Keith Little Band will provide live entertainment. On Sat 26, there’s a
Gothic Masque Ball, with a (compulsory!) dress code of gothic or Victoriana.
