Jack Lowman,
Resident of the Month
Congratulations to Jack Lowman on being
selected as Resident of the Month!
Jack was born on Feb. 28, 1926, in Gary,
Okla. His parents, Wyllie and Iydell
Lowman, had a total of nine children. Jack
had three older sisters, two older brothers,
and three younger brothers. Jack and his the
rest of his family lived with Grandpa Waller,
Iydell’s father.
Jack and several other family members
would eventually move to Lebanon, Mo.
While working as a pin setter at a local
bowling ally, Jack met Beulah Williams.
The couple were married on Feb. 23, 1944 in
Watonga, Okla. The couple enjoyed 69 years
of marriage before Beulah passed away in
June 2013.
Jack and Beulah were blessed with two
wonderful sons: Kelly and Lonnie. Kelly
and his wife, Nancy, live in Hermitage, Mo.
Lonnie and his wife, Peggy, live in Basehor,
Kan. Jack has five grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
After Jack and Beulah were married, they
moved to a suburb of Kansas City, Mo. Always a hard worker, Jack worked at the Arctic ice cream plant for several years, until it
was closed due to the construction of a new
highway. Jack went on to work for DeCoursey
Ice Cream and the Meyer Dairy & Milk
plant before being employed by the Kansas
City School District. After retiring, Jack and
Beulah moved to Pittsburg, Mo., and
enjoyed living on Lake Pomme De Terre
Jack and Beulah were avid campers and
square dancers. Their first camping experience was in 1955 when they took their boys
tent-camping in Yellowstone National Park.
When the boys left home, they purchased
their first RV and their square dancing
adventures began. Starting in a friend’s
basement, Jake and Beulah went on
to join the Wyndotte Squares, a
square dancing club in Kansas City.
After moving to the Lake, the couple
became members of the Pommendars
Square Dancing Club. They traveled
all over the country in their R.V.,
while attending National Square
Dance Conventions.
Jack and Beulah were avid travelers. Some of their most memorable
travels lead them on a 42 day tour of
Alaska, and being one of a 25 travel
-trailer caravan that toured the state.
In 2014, Jack moved to
Butterfield Residential Care Center.
He enjoys attending daily chair
exercises, music, socials, and
reading western novels. He is always
willing to lend a helping hand where
needed. Thank you so sharing your
story with us Jack. We are blessed
to have you as part of our BRCC
family!
