ONYX GROUP REACHES
NEW HEIGHTS
CAFÉ THAT CUTS THE MUSTARD
Café Rouge York has revealed a redesigned bistro with a design theme
that celebrates York’s twinned status with the French town of Dijon.
With Dijon being the capital of Burgundy, the famed French wine
growing region, the theme fits perfectly into the Grade II listed building.
A feature wall depicting images and vintage artwork associated with
Dijon is proudly displayed.
The original features of the building have been updated, with the
vaulted ceiling being stripped back to expose brickwork, creating the
feeling of an authentic wine cellar.
On the relaunch, restaurant manager Shaun Reeder, said: “A stunning
new restaurant and a stunning new menu to match! It’s great times
ahead for us here at York.”
PORTAKABIN £44 MILLION
SCHEME UNDERWAY
York-based Portakabin Group is constructing the UK’s largest off-site
scheme in the education sector. The £44 million contract for the Riverside
Schools project was awarded by the London Borough of Barking and
Dagenham and is using a Yorkon off-site solution to deliver an innovative
three-school campus.
Off-site construction will significantly reduce the programme time for the
project. The structure is now in production in York at the same time as the
major ground works are progressed on-site in East London.
Simon Ambler, director of the Portakabin Group, said: “This is our seventh
project for the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham and follows
on from the two earlier phases on the City Farm site near to the Riverside
Schools campus, that are now in use. The scheme is one of the largest
school projects now under construction in the UK and will create much
needed additional school places for one of the fastest growing school-age
populations in the country.”
IT infrastructure and support specialist Onyx Group
is celebrating another successful twelve months after
a year of investment and high-profile deals result in
record revenue growth and earnings.
Following their £10 million acquisition of Knowledge
IT in December of 2014, Onyx has achieved an overall
revenue growth of 34%, with turnover now standing
at £28.3 million.
Ashfields Restaurant at York College hosted the
Chamber’s Construction Lunch earlier this year
with over 40 business people in attendance.
The lunch was prepared and served by the
students and was followed by a tour of the new
Construction and Skills Centre.
Kevin Clancy, head of construction, led the tour
and showed members the trowel and woodworking workshops, the technology suites and
the classrooms where students are taught the
technical side of construction skills.
The College are interested in connecting with
businesses looking to take on construction
apprentices as well as organisations looking for
work experience students across other disciplines.
Anyone interested should contact Joanna Ableson
on 01904 770368.
Neil Stephenson, CEO of Onyx Group, feels the
increased reliance businesses now place on IT
has provided a platform for companies like Onyx
to prosper: “As we live in an ever-increasing
technological world, businesses now rely on IT for
their everyday operations and the need to maintain
the highest levels of uptime has driven organisations
to incorporate reliable and flexible technologies, such
as cloud computing and data hosting, into their longterm business strategies.”
The company executive team was further
strengthened in late 2015 with the appointment of
Andrew Goldwater (pictured) to the position of chief
financial officer.
