the market in terms of our best sellers. We work closely with the Nutmeg farmers and get our pericarp from them,” says MD La Grenade. The Company is also working assiduously to overcome hurdles to Caribbean export markets. There are challenges, ironically with shipping to nearby Carcicom markets. “We keep on innovating and exploring new ideas and new markets in our quest to go global in the near future. Exports have gone up whilst local sales have gone down. Our biggest challenge with exporting regionally is shipping . Due to the quantities we ship we cannot justify the spend for an entire container and we see more small operators getting out of shipping in the region, so that remains a barrier for us in terms of more regional exports. Today it is still meticulously prepared by de La Grenade Industries using the finest of Grenada’s spices on the same family nutmeg estate where Captain Louis La Grenade made the Liqueur amoungst the lush undulating landscape.
