About Hugh Thomas: Hugh Thomas has had 17 years experience in the field of geology and 14 years doing Geotechnical works. He was employed as the assistant manager of the Central Material Laboratory in Grenada where the most common materials used in major construction projects were tested. Thomas gained further experience during an extensive on the job training period with a German based company, where he was placed in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, Botswana and Jamaica. Every project was different in each country with the work environment varying even more. Thomas has worked on Road Design, Road Evaluation, and Geotechnical Investigations for Bridges & Highways. On his return to Grenada, Hugh Thomas became a key advisor to the Ministry of Works and Transportation on materials, soils, asphalt mix designs and concrete mix designs. In 2008, Thomas joined Dessau International on the ‘Rapid Rail Project’ in Trinidad on their geotechnical team, incharge of all field operations which included 5 drilling teams from Canada, the USA and Trinidad. He returned to Grenada in 2010 incorporating his company “Geotechnical Investigation Services Inc.” and expanded the range of services offered.
