BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (BDD) Provide technical assistance (Preparation of Business Plans, Preparation of Grant Proposals, Record Keeping, Costing and Pricing) Provide training (Entrepreneurial Skills Development Training, Entreprenuerial Awareness, Business Skills Training) Business Support Services (Business name registration, design of stationary and marketing materials, photocopying, faxing, typing, printing) RECENT SUCCESSES 2012 was a successful year for the Corporation www.businessgrenada.com T he Grenada Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) is the investment promotion agency of the Government of Grenada which was established in 1985 through the enactment of the Grenada Industrial Development Corporation Act, Act 2 of 1985. GIDC’s mandate is to stimulate, facilitate and encourage the establishment and development of industry. It is the primary agency of the Government that co-ordinate, encourage, promote and facilitate investment in Grenada. The Corporation’s mandate is to stimulate, facilitate and encourae the establishment and development of industry with emphasis being placed on the five transformational sectors identified by the Government: Information, Communication, Technology, Health, Education, and Wellness Services, Tourism, Agribusiness and Energy Development. There are three main functional departments which provide the following services. having ‘copped’ three top awards: In February, ‘The Global Investment Promotion Benchmarking 2012 report’, in a new report by the World Bank Group, the Corporation was ranked #1 among Investment Promotion Agencies in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries for its focus on speed and teamwork; In April, the Corporation received ‘The UNCTAD Investment Promotion Award’ as one of the world`s five best-practising Investment Promotion Agencies for its contribution to facilitating investment for job creation and skills development. The award was received during the World Investment Forum held in Doha, Qatar; and in November, the Corporation received ‘The Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agency (CAIPA) Regional Excellence Award’ in Investment Promotion for 2012.
