Generation Strategy T
he Grenada Investment Generation Strategy which was approved by Cabinet in August 2011 is guided by five core principles which are subsets of the Government’s overall economic development strategy; the starting point is the five transformational sectors as outlined by the Government: Tourism and Hospitality, Health Education and Wellness Services, Agribusiness, Information and Communication Technology and Energy Development. The strategy seeks to balance the economics of investment with the social and cultural aspirations of the people of Grenada, is related to international and local market realities, seeks to ensure that there is optimal allocation of scarce national resources and takes into account the current “people capability” of the country while providing a means for learning, growth and capacity development. Transformational Sector Tourism and Hospitality Sub Sector IT USES A PROCESS OF TARGETING WHICH IS APPLIED IN THE FOLLOWING MANNER: • The five transformational sectors are the defining parameters – once the five transformational sectors were validated, they became the main focus of the investment generation strategy; • Targeting niches within sectors – there are a wide range of activities within each of the transformational sectors, which could legitimately be the focus of the strategy.
