Business Grenada talks to Anselm La Touche and Peter de Savary Luxury Villas H e opened his first office in St. Georges in 1977, at the age of 27, recommended by a colleague he was contacted by St. George’s University to attend an open bid for the build of the University. “All of the top names in construction were there, and I was younger and greener than everyone in the room, and when my turn came up I said show me the site and I will design it tonight and bring it back to you tomorrow and tell you how much it will cost, at no cost to you. We left everyone in the room and went to True Blue on my motorcycle. I did what I said and the next day we started working together. They took a chance with me that day, and we’ve grown up together, it’s a relationship, and the University is still the largest volume of work that we do.” This is Anslem LaTouche. After that there was no looking back and the business team started to grow with competent people, with a strong management core. In 2002 they expanded into Barbados, in t heir quest for innovation they opened another business, Creative do it Best to bring in the volume of materials that they needed. According to La Touche building in Grenada changed after Hurricane Ivan, for one thing upgrading of materials became a necessity, La Touche adds “We never cut corners and Ivan proved that with the buildings that didn’t www.businessgrenada.com survive, for some it was embarrassing.” Technology in architectural design has also improved and La Touche saw the advantage of investing in the top of the line software, AutoCAD Revit, which he says is the future of construction and a new era of technology advancing business.
